Hard corals provide the structure, while cod, honeycomb grouper, blue barred parrotfish, sweetlip, and damsels move through the area regularly. Bald Rock is a reef and cave dive off Queensland that suits beginners well, sitting at depths of 6 to 18 metres. The site rewards slow, careful exploration, with wobbegongs resting in the cave areas and stingrays cruising the sandy patches. Look closely at the reef structure and you will find nudibranchs, Spanish dancers, flatworms, pipefish, and cuttlefish tucked into the smaller spaces, along with scorpionfish and octopus that rely on camouflage to hide in plain sight. Red Beach is a reef dive accessible to beginners, sitting in up to 18 metres of water with mild currents that make it manageable for those still building confidence underwater. Outer Rock is a reef and wall dive that combines a shallow reef system with deeper water dropping to 30 metres. The site carries a moderate current that can strengthen unpredictably, so good buoyancy control matters here. Visibility is variable, which means conditions can change between dives. The reef structure mixes encrusting, plate, and branching corals, with wrasse and blue barred parrotfish working the shallower sections. Schools of fusiliers move through the water column, and turtles are a regular presence. Reef sharks patrol the deeper wall, and reef manta rays visit the site. May and August offer the most reliable conditions.

Wreck Beach stands out for its remarkable marine residents, including a 420-year-old brain coral that serves as the site's centrepiece. Depths run from 4 to 15 metres with visibility typically reaching 7 to 16 metres, making it very manageable for beginner divers and snorkellers. Currents are mild, so you can take your time watching giant clams, turtles, and spotted rays without fighting the water. Wobbegong sharks and epaulette sharks rest on the bottom, while sweetlips, cods, and groupers move through the reef. Both shore and boat entry are available, with a dive shop, equipment rental, and guided tours on site.
