Apsley Waterhole is a freshwater snorkelling site in Tasmania where the main draw is spotting Australian Grayling, a native migratory fish found in select Tasmanian waterways. The water is shallow and calm, making it accessible for beginners and non-swimmers comfortable with snorkelling gear. Visibility varies depending on recent rainfall and season, so conditions are not guaranteed. The water is cold year-round, so a wetsuit is strongly recommended even in summer. The best time to visit is during the summer months of December through February. Basic facilities including parking and toilets are available on site.
