Alma Bay is a sheltered shore entry site with easy shallow waters reaching just 9 metres at its deepest, making it a genuinely comfortable introduction to diving or snorkelling. Visibility ranges from 3 to 10 metres, and the mild current means you can take your time exploring without feeling rushed. The site regularly turns up an impressive variety of rays, including blue spot mask rays, cow tail rays, and shovelnose rays, alongside wobbegong and epaulette sharks resting on the bottom. Turtles, coral trout, and angelfish are also common sightings. Keep an eye out for nudibranchs if you move slowly and look closely.

The Platypus combines a shallow wreck with reef growth, making it a forgiving introduction to wreck diving in Queensland. The site sits between 3 and 8 metres, so new divers can take their time exploring without worrying about depth. Visibility runs to around 5 metres, which is variable, so you may need to look carefully, but the compact depth range means you can always reorient yourself easily. Hard corals have colonised the structure over time, attracting reef fish, rays, and turtles. There is no current to contend with, and the site is accessible by both boat and shore entry. Watch out for jellyfish, particularly if you have exposed skin.

Boulders is a shallow reef shore dive that suits beginners well, with depths running from 2 to 10 metres and generally mild current. Visibility ranges from 1 to 8 metres, so conditions can vary, but on a good day you get clear views of the reef structure and its residents. Keep an eye on the bottom for wobbegong and epaulette sharks resting on the rocks, and look under ledges for moray eels and crayfish. Stingrays often cruise the sandy patches between the boulders. Sweetlips, batfish, and coral trout add colour in the water column, while nudibranchs reward anyone who slows down and looks carefully.
