Murray Road Boat Ramp offers a straightforward shore entry onto a shallow reef sitting at just 5 to 6 metres, making it a practical choice for beginner divers getting comfortable in the water. Visibility here is variable, so conditions can change, and a mild current is typical. Keep an eye out for wrasse moving along the reef, juvenile grouper tucked into crevices, and dusky morwongs resting near the bottom. The main thing to watch for is surf at the entry point, so take a moment to read the waves before you get in. Good shore facilities make this an easy day out.

Misery Beach is a shore entry reef dive in easy shallow waters, reaching no deeper than 10 metres, which makes it a comfortable choice for beginners still building confidence underwater. Visibility here is variable, so conditions can change between visits, and despite the generally mild current, rip currents and strong surges do occur, so check conditions before you get in. The reef supports sponges, seagrass beds and a good mix of wrasse, and patient divers may spot weedy or leafy seadragons, western blue devils, boarfish and australian giant cuttlefish. Blue ringed octopus are also present, so admire them without touching.

Whaling Cove Beach is a shore entry reef dive suited to beginners, with easy shallow waters reaching 2 to 10 metres deep. Visibility here is variable, so conditions can change between visits, but even on murkier days the reef offers plenty to explore at close range. Keep an eye out for Australian Giant Cuttlefish moving along the bottom, Old Wife and Wrasse weaving through the reef structure, and the striking Western Blue Devil. Leatherjackets and Leatherjackets are common, and the reef is well colonised by sponge and algae. Currents are mild, making this a comfortable first reef dive. Be aware that sharks are present in the area.
